Freestyle – Don’t Stop the Rock

1985 release this time around. I probably missed it at the time, but would have heard it in some club somewhere. Unlike Afrika Bambaataa on the previous record, I am really struggling to find information about the origins of this track.

Many may remember it from a Cadbury’s chocolate advert from the early 00’s, but I mainly connect it with early StreetSounds scene in the UK.

As a total aside, for quite a while I had the intro as my ringtone on my phone, and it was always an icebreaker whenever people heard it.

Going for it, the track has a simplicity in the melody, and instrumentation and one of the ultimate creative uses of a Vocoder in the entire 80s.
